About
Dean
Tanella
My name is Dean
Tanella. I am the proud parent of two girls whom I
love to coach (along with their friends and teammates)
in soccer. Throughout my life, I have been a longtime
proponent of sports and outdoor activities. Growing up
in a small community in northwestern New Jersey, I spent
much of my time playing competitive sports. After
winning a scholarship to Blair Academy in Blairstown,
New Jersey, I won the Headmaster’s Award and the Athlete
of the Year Award during my senior year. Throughout my
time at Blair Academy, I served as captain for soccer
and basketball teams, and led the baseball team to the
New Jersey state finals. At Princeton University, I
played varsity baseball and varsity soccer. In my adult
life, I continue to enjoy athletics, specifically golf,
baseball, cycling, water skiing, boating, soccer, and
participating in triathlons.
From personal experience, I know that participating in sports
hones ones own ability to handle challenges in life.
Adversity on the court or sporting field can be overcome by
hard work and determination, and I feel that the same is true
for challenges in the workplace. I bring my competitive edge
into the workplace every day, and it has helped me attain
success in the financial arena.
It is a joyous privilege to be able to spend time with my
children and coach them in soccer. I know that my daughters’
experience playing soccer will benefit them now, and later in
life. Watching them grow in maturity and determination
inspires me daily, and I hope that other parents will take
the initiative and take the time to coach their children in
soccer or other sports. It is an experience not to be missed.
